A Winning Night at TWIA 2025!

Back in late November, my wife and I headed to the beautiful Silchester Farm for the 2025 edition of The Wedding Industry Awards. This is without doubt the most well-known and prestigious awards in the UK wedding industry so, despite having been in the industry for over 15 years (with hundreds of happy clients behind me), I rocked up feeling quite nervous. There were some incredible photographers in my category, so I was simply planning on enjoying a few canapés, a couple of glasses of whisky and a fun night out with Charlotte. We all need that in the depths of winter, right?! In the great tradition of surprised Oscar nominees, I had not written a speech.

We perched at the back, on a comfy chesterfield and settled in for the night, cheering on our industry pals. And then the photographer category rolled around and, despite the seriously talented field, I somehow found my name being called! Highly Commended in the South East Central Photography Category! Hard to convey what a rush this was. To be considered in the same league as some of the other nominees is a huge endorsement.

Running up the aisle (where scoring high-fives from the crowd was mandatory!), I made it to the stage. The classic ‘don’t let me fall up the stairs’ fear came over me – but I made it. I can’t tell you what I said, I’m sure the music drowned me out (how far can I take this Oscars metaphor?!) and I headed as quickly as I could off-stage to my place at the back of the barn.

My clients often tell me that they’re not the type who want to be the centre of attention and I totally get that! Being the subject isn’t something that necessarily comes naturally to a documentary wedding photographer! While I certainly prefer being on the other side of the lens I’m really thankful to have some photos and videos of this fantastic night. There are a few favourites below and I’m incredibly grateful to my fellow wedding supplier, the lovely Sam from SD Celebrations, for immortalising the moment on film!

Big thanks to Damian and everyone at The Wedding Industry Awards for running such a worthwhile awards programme, to Silchester Farm for hosting the night brilliantly, and to Matt Rock for capturing the official photos. Massive congratulations to all the big winners; it takes a lot of experience and know-how to pull a wedding together and these guys really make it happen.

After all the glitz and glamour died down, the biggest, and most unexpected highlight of the whole experience, has actually been sitting down and reading the comments that were submitted when my clients voted for me. It genuinely made me beam reflecting on all their kind words. So the biggest thanks goes to my incredible clients for pulling an absolute blinder, and being so generous – I am pretty darn humbled by your generous words.

The Royal Wedding – Black & White Film

Last weekend, my wife and my brother decided it’d be fun to head to Windsor for the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry & Meghan Markle. It was, genuinely, great fun and the atmosphere was remarkable. The sense of being at the centre of a rather historic ‘good news’ story was palpable. The only thing I…
