Fulham Palace Wedding Photography - Annalisa & Kane

This was my first Fulham Palace wedding and I very much hope to return again soon. Annalisa is a close friend of my good mate Ellie, whose wedding I very much enjoyed photographing back in 2013. Annalisa is half Italian, via her Mum, and therefore appropriately her marriage to Kane took place in the beautiful Our Lady Of Pity & St Simon Stock Roman Catholic Church in Putney.

The light during the service was mesmeric. Bright sunlight beaming through high windows. Dramatic and photogenic. Kane is a former actor turned barrister (a less exotic change of career than you might think when you consider it) and therefore knows some rather talented musicians. During the signing of the register Annalisa & Kane’s guests were treated to the beautiful voice of Rosie Orchard accompanied on the piano by Craig White. They performed À Chloris by Hahn, which is truly beautiful and I didn’t previously know, and Du bist die ruh by Schubert.

We emerged from the ceremony into glorious sunshine before making the short trip to the palace for the wedding reception. Originally the seat of the Bishop of London, today Fulham Palace is used for all manner of activities, including hosting weddings. It’s a great setting, especially for a summer wedding like Annalisa & Kane’s, with the Tudor Courtyard a great space for hanging out with your guests and the gardens teeming with colour.

Annalisa wore a gorgeous flowing Truvelle dress while Kane paired a navy suit with paisley tie, pink braces and panama hat. Both looked effortlessly cool. Their wedding fell on the same day as England played Sweden in the World Cup. I don’t really follow football myself but the result was an England win which added to the mood of summer revelry. I travelled to the reception in a cab with Craig the pianist and the bridesmaids and the genuine excitement when England scored was pretty cool. I love these unusual human moments that sometimes crop up in the midst of an otherwise fairly structured day.

Annalisa & Kane were keen to keep things fairly chilled and rather than serving a classic wedding breakfast, opted for extra mingling and bowl food as an extension of the drinks reception. It was a bit of a master stroke as it allowed far more time for them to hang out with their friends and flowed perfectly into their outdoor speeches. These work wonderfully well as part of a Fulham Palace wedding and I’d recommend them to anyone considering getting married there in the summer months.

For the evening, things moved partially indoors for cutting the cake and dancing, alongside more drinks, a scrumptious pizza van and face-painting in the Tudor Courtyard. It was a really wonderful day and the sort of beautiful yet informal wedding that is a particular joy to photograph. I very much hope to be back shooting another Fulham Palace wedding before too much longer. My thanks to Annalisa & Kane for having me. Now, time for some of my favourite images from their day!
