Oxleaze Barn Wedding - Ellie & Nick
Some weddings feel particularly special—not just because of the setting or the details, but because of the people. Ellie & Nick’s Oxleaze Barn wedding was one of those. Over the years, I’ve had the huge privilege of photographing weddings for so many of their friends and family and it was fantastic to be back amongst this lovely crowd. It all started back in 2014 when Jenny (Nick’s sister) was a bridesmaid for her friend Sarah, and since then, I’ve documented celebrations for a string of wonderful couples who originated from that first wedding: Rachel & David, Alex & Luke, Lily & Cam, Charlotte & Matt, and possibly a few more that are slipping my mind right now! Having that continued trust placed in me—time and again—means the world.
When I met Ellie & Nick at Jenny’s wedding I remember thinking that I would LOVE to shoot for these guys, so I was absolutely jazzed when they got in touch. As predicted, their Oxleaze Barn wedding was an absolute beaut and one of my highlights of the year.
Elegance in the Cotswolds at Oxleaze Barn
Nestled in rolling countryside near Lechlade, Oxleaze Barn is one of my favourite Cotswolds wedding venues. It’s got that perfect balance of rustic character and contemporary elegance, with beautiful stone walls, big barn doors, and the kind of window light photographers dream about. The way the light bounces around the gorgeous interiors is something really special.
Ellie & Nick’s September wedding was relaxed, classy, and full of warmth—despite a little bit of rain! We worked around a brief afternoon shower, and by the evening, we were rewarded with some incredible golden light for portraits. There’s something magical about late summer days in the Cotswolds.
The speeches took place outside on the patio before the wedding breakfast, which gave everything a lovely, relaxed feel. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know how much I love shooting speeches. The emotions are just so evident during this chapter of the day and I love the vibe that comes with standing, outdoor speeches.
I’ve photographed over 400 weddings now (which means I’ve eaten a fair bit of delicious wedding grub) but Ellie & Nick’s food was incredible. The wedding breakfast was catered by Berry Blue and it was absolutely top-drawer. In the evening Dough – Wood Fired Pizza served some of the best pies I’ve ever encountered. I’ve been quite into pizza making for a while and these guys know their stuff. In the evening we did some sparklers outside and getting everyone out was made REAL easy because the pizza was mere feet away!
Ellie had told me that, for her, photography was one of the most important elements of the wedding so we built-in plenty of time to get out into the stunning and varied grounds of Oxleaze. Oxleaze Barn seems to have a bit of everything. Country house gardens, classic Cotswold views from the beautiful driveway (complete with dry stone wall) and the charming spaces surrounding the barn itself. Needless to say, we had a lot of fun making the best of it! The results are some of my favourite portraits from 2024. I think we can all agree that the camera LOVES these guys.
Ellie & Nick, thank you for trusting me to capture your Oxleaze Barn wedding—it was an undiluted joy. Now, time for some photos!
